Work Experience
In my work outside of fiction writing, I am driven by social impact and creating opportunities for people to have agency in their lives. My ten years of experience as a non-profit leader have centered on creating spaces for young people—particularly students of color and those from marginalized backgrounds—to have access to the community and experiences they need to be creative and create economic mobility.
I started my career working directly with young people and have since transitioned to stewarding partnerships because I love connecting companies with access to resources with innovative social and educational programs. I strive to build bridges between communities and leverage my creative writing background to showcase impact with diverse stakeholders.

Most recently, I was the Associate Director of Partnerships and Communications at Code Nation, an organization that was working to create access to careers in technology for young people. I oversaw the organization's local corporate partnerships and marketing efforts to build our brand in Chicago, increase corporate donations, and create bridges between the tech industry and talented high school students.

Previously, at 826NYC, a youth writing nonprofit, I oversaw the programs and volunteer department. During my tenure as Director of Education, I strategically grew the Young Writers’ Publish program, deepened student social-emotional learning and writing impact, and transformed our workshops and after-school program after NYC public schools shut down due to COVID-19.
